SERVICE PROJECTS
Service projects are a huge part of the student’s life at Good Shepherd School. Some are done in the classrooms by grade levels and others are done school-wide.
BAND
Band is offered for a fee to students in grades 4–6. Group lessons are available to students. Bands perform in concerts throughout the school year.
BIZTOWN
The fifth- and sixth-grade students at Good Shepherd attend the Junior Achievement BizTown program every other year. The program is a fully interactive, simulated, free market facility where students become adults for a day. They learn what it takes to run a successful business, manage a checking account and work as a team.
LIBRARY
The Zellmer Library is housed in the Media Center. It is staffed largely by volunteers. Books may be checked out for a two-week period. Students in kindergarten and first grade are allowed to have one book out on loan. Older grades may have two books out on loan.
SAFETY PATROL
The Safety Patrol is staffed by the students in the sixth grade to help ensure the safety of our kids while entering and exiting the building.
SERVICE CLUB
All sixth grade students are members of our Service Club. They are assigned a job within the school to help with various tasks under a teacher’s supervision. Assigned roles may include teacher aides, kitchen scrapers, office helpers and more.

The Student Club consists of representatives from each class who work together to plan activities to promote a greater community spirit at Good Shepherd School.
ALTAR SERVING
Students that are Good Shepherd parishioners have an opportunity to be Altar Servers. The students receive special training in fifth grade during the school day. When the training is completed, the servers have the opportunity to serve at school Masses, weekend Masses, weddings and funerals. This is a great opportunity for service as many students continue serving Mass right through their high school years.
OTHER
Numerous field trips, the school’s media center and other special events and experiences planned by the homeroom teachers all provide learning opportunities beyond standard curriculum.
